Joe Tilson

Painter and creator of reliefs in wood, born in London. He studied at the Royal College of Art, 1952-5.

Between 1955-7 Tilson travelled in Italy and Spain, which had a marked influence on his early work.

He was elected RA in 1991. The Arts Council and the Tate Gallery hold examples of his work.
